ウメモドキの実が色づき始めました
今まで、ウメモドキは初夏に咲く花と、秋の真っ赤な赤い実を楽しんで、それで終わりと思っていました。ところが、先日、はた衛門さんのブログに、青い実から赤い実に遷り変わる時もまた、鑑賞するに値する美しさがあることを知りました。しかも、その見頃の期間は、僅か１０日ばかりであるというので、急いで菜園脇のウメモドキを訪ねてみました。間に合いました。ウメモドキの実が緑から赤へと移り変わる見事な色合いで輝いていました。

ウメモドキ：モチノキ科モチノキ属。 落葉低木。 原産地：日本。
↑ リンゴのような色をした可愛らしい実が沢山ついていました。
葉がウメ（梅）に似ており、また花もウメに似ていつところから「ウメモドキ」と呼ばれるようになったという。赤く熟した果実は→こちら（2008/10/28 UP） をご参照ください。
↑ ウメモドキの葉。ウメモドキの葉は、一見、ウメの葉に似ているが、よく見ると、細かい毛が葉に密生している点がウメの葉と異なる。
